Expanding a marketplace into a new country is not a copy-and-paste exercise. What works in Australia does not automatically translate to the United Kingdom, where driving instruction has different qualifications, different learner expectations, different geography and different payment habits. EzLicence needed the UK platform to respect all of this while preserving the experience that made the original a success. Earning genuine product-market fit in a new region, and the trust of UK learners and instructors, was the real challenge.
Taking a proven driving-lesson marketplace from Australia to the UK, localised for a new market from day one.
From Australia to the United Kingdom
EzLicence had already built Australia's largest driving-lesson marketplace. The opportunity was to bring that proven two-sided marketplace to the United Kingdom - a large, competitive market with its own rules, expectations and way of learning to drive. PixelForce partnered with EzLicence to localise the platform for the UK so it felt native to local learners and instructors from launch.
The Problem
The Solution
PixelForce adapted the proven platform for the UK rather than rebuilding it. We localised the learner and instructor experience to UK norms, connected UK-appropriate payment options, and shaped the product around how British learners actually search for and book lessons, so the marketplace felt local, familiar and trustworthy from the first visit.
The Outcome
The UK platform launched as a native-feeling local marketplace on a battle-tested foundation. Today it connects UK learners with more than 350 accredited instructors across over 1,000 areas, and has earned a 4.9-star rating from more than 10,000 Google reviews. EzLicence now operates as a genuine two-market business, with the United Kingdom established as its primary growth market.
One proven model, a very different market
EzLicence is an Australian company that built the country's largest online marketplace for learning to drive, connecting hundreds of thousands of learners with accredited driving instructors. Rather than run a traditional driving school, EzLicence lets learners search local instructors, compare ratings and prices, and book and pay online, while giving instructors the tools to run their teaching business. With that model proven at scale at home, the United Kingdom was the natural next market: large, digitally mature and ready for a better way to book lessons.
The catch is that the UK is not Australia. Driving-instructor qualifications, the way areas and postcodes work, learner expectations and payment preferences all differ. A successful launch meant far more than translating words - it meant re-fitting the product to UK reality while keeping the speed and polish of the original. PixelForce was engaged to lead that localisation and bring the marketplace to the UK without losing what made it work.
A different rulebook
UK driving-instructor qualifications and accreditation work differently from Australia and had to be reflected correctly.
A different map
UK areas and postcodes behave differently, so local search had to be re-fitted to how Britain is organised.
Local expectations
Payment habits, pricing and the way learners expect to book all differ market to market.
Keep what works
The launch had to feel native to the UK without losing the speed and polish of the proven original.

EzLicence is based in Adelaide and the target market was on the other side of the world, so PixelForce worked as an embedded, remote product partner, bridging Australian and UK time zones and shaping UK-specific decisions with the EzLicence team throughout. Working on a proven platform meant we could move quickly and focus our energy on the things that genuinely needed to change for Britain.

How we localised the marketplace
PixelForce treats a market launch as a product problem, not a translation job. We began with user research and discovery into how British learners find and book lessons and how UK instructors run their businesses, then turned that into a clear plan, captured in a product requirements document, for exactly what had to change for the UK and what could stay. Scoping and design came before any build, so the team knew precisely which parts of the platform to adapt.
From there we adapted the experience end to end: the way learners search their local area, the information shown for UK instructor qualifications, UK-appropriate payments and pricing, and the wording and journeys that match how people in Britain expect to book. The user experience was tuned so the platform feels local and familiar, and it runs as a fast progressive web app so learners can book from any device without installing anything.
Because trust is everything in a marketplace, we held the same quality bar as the original: rigorous quality assurance and careful handling of learners' personal data to UK standards, launching in a way that let EzLicence build visibility area by area. The result matches how PixelForce runs every engagement - understand deeply, scope and design first, build and test to a high standard, then support the platform as it grows in its new market.
PixelForce has shipped 100+ products since 2013, including marketplaces that scale from a first booking to nationwide reach.
